Tiger Memon threatens to avenge brother Yakub's execution
Mumbai, August 7 (IBNS) Hours before Yakub Memon was hanged on July 30, his older brother and underworld operative Tiger Memon, called his family in Mumbai and threatened to avenge the execution, media reports claimed on Friday.
However, the Mumbai police have denied it.
NDTV says that Tiger Memon made the call to his Mahim residence in the early hours of July 30 through Voice on Internet Protocol and spoke to a family member, who reportedly told him that "they cannot take any more violence and it should stop."
Reports suggest that the call was intercepted by the police and security agencies.
Yakub Memon was hanged for his role in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts that killed 257 people.
Yakub was held guilty of financing the attack.
The main accused in the blasts, Tiger Memon and Dawood Ibrahim, remain missing.
Yakub Memon's lawyers and activists said that he had cooperated with investigators and did not deserve to die.
