West Bengal : Crude bomb explosion kills 2 in Birbhum
Kolkata/Birbhum, Jan 22 (IBNS) A major explosion in the house of a local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader in West Bengal's Birbhum district killed at least two persons on Thursday midnight, reports said.
The explosion took place at Amodpur village under khayrasole Police Station area.
According to reports, two men have been identified as Liton Sheikh and Hafizul Sheikh. After the explosion, one portion of the building collapsed.
Locals alleged that the explosion occurred when crude bombs were being made inside the house of TMC leader Sheik Zabir Hossain. Those killed were said to be Hussain's brothers and they were also TMC workers.
A huge police force, Combat Force and Rapid Action Force (RAF) have reached the spot.
Locals say few other people might also be killed or injured in the explosion.
Police have started investigation into the incident.
"We have started investigation to know the exact reason of the explosion," a senior official of Birbhum district police told IBNS.
