World is talking about Indian Army's prowess : PM Modi at Himachal Pradesh
Mandi, Oct 18 (IBNS) : Saluting the Indian Army, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the bravery of the forces has now become the talking point of the world following the surgical strikes against Pakistani terrorists last month.
"The world is now talking about our Army. We used to hear about similar feats of the Israeli Army. But now everyone knows Indian Army is no less," he said while addressing a Parivartan rally at Mandi in the poll-bound Himachal Pradesh.
Himachal Pradesh is scheduled to go for election next year.
Commandos of the Indian Army conducted the surgical strikes across the Line of Control on September 28-29 to destroy terrorist launch pads in the Pak occupied Kashmir.
The strikes took place days after the terror attack on Uri Army camp in which 19 soldiers were killed.
Modi said Himachal Pradesh is the land of the brave and that every family in Mandi has a member in the Army.
He also said the BJP's promise of One Rank One Pension (OROP) has been fulfilled by his Government.
This is Modi's first visit to the hill state since assuming office in 2014.
"I feared that the people of Himachal Pradesh would be annoyed with me for taking so long in visiting the state. But after coming here I can realise that the love they have showered on me," he said.
Besides addressing the rally, the PM Prime Minister dedicated to the nation three hydro-electric projects (HEPs) with a total generating capacity of 1,732 MW in Himachal Pradesh.
Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Power Minister Piyush Goyal were present on the occasion.
An unprecedented security arrangement has been made in Mandi on the day of Modi's programme.
