Decoding Phalguni, a dance drama composed by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore
Kolkata, March 17 (IBNS): West Bengal State Akademi of Dance Drama Music and Visual Arts, Rabindra Bharati University held Phalguni Niye, a one-day seminar on Rabindranath Tagores dance drama Phalguni, with talks by experts and the enactment of selected scenes, at Bichitra, Jorasanko Thakurbari in Kolkata, recently.
After the inauguration of the seminar by Prof. Sabyasachi Basu Ray Chaudhury, Vice Chancellor, Rabindra Bharati University, and Chairman, West Bengal State Akademi of Dance Drama Music and Visual Arts, Prof. Sanjoy Mukhopadhyay spoke on Aniyomer Labonya: ‘Phalguni’, and Prof. Saumitra Basu spoke on ‘Sharodotsab’ Theke ‘Phalguni’
Members of ‘Antarmukh’ and ‘Uhinee Kolkata’ presented selected scenes from ‘Phalguni’ – the dance drama which visualizes a transformation of nature from the dry, lifeless winters to the blossoms associated with spring which makes mankind realize the values associated with the full bloom of nature during the spring season.
