Gallery K2 hosts Indo-Norwegian art exhibition in Kolkata
Kolkata, Nov 21 (IBNS) Kolkata's Gallery K2 played the perfect host for an Indo-Norwegian art exhibition by Norwegian artist Hanne Haukom and Avijit Mukherjee from Kolkata here on Friday.
Titled 'Northern Lights, Southern Stories', the exhibition which opened on Friday and will continue till Dec 9, features two different styles of art, one that focuses on minute details, the other a delightful abstractions.
With just two and a half years of experience in painting, Haukom's theme is derived from nature. Her take on Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights is truly stunning. Her vivid paintings complements the well crafted ones of Mukherjee.
When asked how much time it takes to complete a painting, Haukom told IBNS: "Well, I often work on several ones at a time. So anything in-between five to seven days for a painting."
The painter, who also works with ceramics, said though she had no formal training in painting, her understanding of ceramics made the job easier for her.
"Understanding the finer details about ceramics really helped me," she said.
For Mukherjee it's all about the details.
"I love stressing on the details," he said, while adding, "These are consciously sub-conscious works."
Both the artists urged people to visit the exhibition and take a closer look at their work.
