AAP Government a "costly experiment" for Delhi : Jaitley
New Delhi, May 19 (IBNS) Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday said the people of Delhi was making a "very costly experiment" with Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party heading the state government.
"The people of Delhi experimented with a new party in the elections, but its a very costly experiment. Governance is not AAP's political agenda," he said while speaking at a programme of the Bharaitya Janata Party.
Jaitley said Delhi was not difficult to govern as it "doesn't face the kind of challenges other states do - like Chhattisgarh and Jammu and Kashmir."
"Delhi could have been turned into a global city, it has great opportunities in business, tourism etc," he said.
In the last assembly elections the Aam Aadmi Party won a landslide victory winning 67 of 70 seats as a mighty BJP was in a stupor having registered a nightmare result with only three seats.
The BJP had put in all its strength to come to power in Delhi, but repeated its 2013 failure in a much worse way.
Shortly after taking over as chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, however, embroiled in continued bickering with the centre, the latest instance being his power struggle with Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung as his party witnessed internal strife with founder members like Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav holding up a banner of revolt.
Jaitley said "AAP has such a huge mandate, they must understand their responsibility and that people want governance, not controversies and disputes. But if they can't, then it is also our responsibility to make them understand."
