Afghanistan: Abducted Indian girl rescued, tweets Sushma Swaraj
New Delhi, July 23 (IBNS): The Indian national, who has abducted in Afghanistan, has been rescued, officials said on Saturday.
Judith D'Souza was abducted on June 9 by suspected militants in Kabul. She works for the Agha Khan Foundation.
Informing about the rescue of the girl, who is from Kolkata, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted: "I am happy to inform you that Judith D'souza has been rescued. @jeromedsouza."
"Judith was abducted in Kabul on 9th June 2016," she said.
Swaraj thanked Afghanistan officials for helping to find the abducted woman.
"Thank you Afghanistan - for all your help and support in rescuing #Judith," she said.
"Ambassador @VohraManpreet - you have done an outstanding job.#Judith," she said.
Her last tweet read: "Judith D'Souza is with us - safe and in good spirits. She will reach her Motherland at the earliest. Vande Mataram."
Judith D'Souza's brother Jerome D'Souza had earlier thanked Swaraj for her 'assurances'.
He had tweeted: "Gratitude to @SushmaSwaraj for meeting me. Her assurances on bringing back Judith give us hope that she will be home soon. Thank you Ma'am!."
As per Judith D'Souza's LinkedIn page , she was working as Senior Technical Adviser - Gender at The Aga Khan Foundation in Afghanistan.
After passing from Loreto Day School in Kolkata, she completed her graduation from St Xaviers College in the city.
Judith D'Souza studied her Post Graduation on Social Work from University of Mumbai, College of Social Work.
