BJP anti-Dalit,hatching disgusting conspiracy against my party and family : Mayawati
Lucknow, Dec 27 (IBNS) : A day after the Enforcement Directorate claimed to have detected huge cash deposits in her party's account, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Maywati on Tuesday accused the BJP of being casteist and misusing power to malign the BSP.
"Casteist forces don’t want people a Dalit woman to come up....BJP is misusing the state machinery to malign the name of BSP party," she said while addressing a press conference.
She also alleged that BJP has hatched a "disgusting conspiracy" against the BSP and her family.
Mayawati's counter-charge came a day after reports surfaced that the Enforcement Directorate has detected cash deposits totalling over Rs 104 crore in an account belonging to her party and Rs 1.43 crore in an account belonging to party her brother, Anand.
It was said that the money was deposited after demonetisation was announced.
The BSP supremo, however, claimed that she had been in Uttar Pradesh since August 31 and collected money through donations before demonetisation.
"We have deposited the money collected as party funds honestly in the bank account, there is no wrongdoings," she said.
Maywati claimed that the BSP had followed rules and procedure to deposit its money in bank and she is in a position to give account for every single rupee.
She said her younger brother Anand has his own business and deposited money in bank accounts according to IT rules.
Mayawati dared the BJP to come out with a declaration of its money and "explain how much money did it deposit in banks before November eight," the day demonetisation was announced.
"I have faith in the people of Uttar Pradesh. They will support the BSP despite the allegations," she said.
" BJP and company have been harassing us since 2007, but this will not have any impact," she said in a reference to the upcoming state Assembly elections.
