BJP minister attends prayer meeting in Muzaffarnagar
Muzaffarnagar, Aug 28 (IBNS): Amid tight security arrangements, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Sanjeev Baliyan attended a prayer meeting in Uttar Pradeshs Muzaffarnagar district on Thursday, reports said.
The prayer meeting was held at the home of two young Jat men who were killed by a Muslim mob one year ago in Malikapura village.
Sources said Rapid Action Force (RAF) was deployed to assist the local police in case any trouble takes place during the prayer function.
Cousins Sachin and Gaurav were murdered on August 27, 2013 after they allegedly killed a young Muslim man named Shahnawaz from a neighbouring village. Shahnawaz had allegedly harassed their sister.
Prayers are also scheduled be held at Shahnawaz’s Kawal village on Thursday afternoon.
The three killings led to deadly riots in the area last year that left 65 people dead and thousands homeless.
