BJP-Sena seat-sharing fate likely to be decided today
New Delhi, Sep 22 (IBNS): The fate of long-time alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena is expected to be decided on Monday with the former considering releasing its list of candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly polls scheduled next month, reports said.
The two parties failed to arrive at a seat-sharing agreement on Sunday despite hectic backroom consultations in both the political camps.
Shiv Sena made its ‘last offer’ of 119 seats but the BJP maintained that anything less than 135 was unacceptable, sources said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party President Amit Shah also attended the central election committee meeting in Delhi in view of finding a solution to the ongoing stalemate. The duo is reportedly making attempts to avoid any unpleasantness with the decades-old ally, media reports said.
The BJP unit in Maharashtra is, however, is ready to go alone if the Sena is unwilling to accept its demands.
