BJP sets up panel to probe naked parading of tribal woman in Karnataka
Belagavi: Strongly condemning the incident of parading naked of a tribal woman in Belagavi district, BJP national president JP Nadda on Friday constituted a five-member facts finding committee to visit the incident site.
The committee will submit its report to Nadda at the earliest.
Nadda said such heinous crimes, especially against women, are happening at regular intervals ever since the Congress government has come to power in Karnataka.
This also exposes the irresponsible behaviour of congress governments everywhere in the country in tackling such crimes, he alleged.
Members of the committee are Aprajita Sarangi, Sunita Duggal, Locket Chatterjee, Ranjeeta Koli and Asha Lakra.
A 55-year-old woman was dragged out of her house and paraded naked and tied to an electric pole after her 24-year-old son eloped with the 18-year-old daughter of the accused in New Vantamuri village.
About 20 members of the girl's family damaged the victim's house at around 12.30 am on Monday. As many as seven people have been arrested in the case, and necessary legal action has been taken.
The issue was also raised in the state assembly by BJP MLA Sunil Kumar.
