Cyclone Ockhi expected to make landfall, rescue operations going on in war footing says Defence Minister
Thiruvanantapuram, Dec 4 (IBNS): Union Minister for Defence, Nirmala Sitharaman, reviewed the rescue operations in Cyclone Ockhi affected areas of Thiruvanantapuram with the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, on Monday, according to media reports.
The state's Minister for Cooperation, Kadakampally Surendran and the Fisheries Minister, J. Mercykutty Amma were also present.
The Defence Minister said that relief operations by central and state forces in Cyclone Ockhi hit areas are on going in war footing.
According to latest reports, the cyclone is expected to make landfall in Maharashtra and south Gujarat on Monday.
The cyclone crossed Laskshadweep on Sunday and is expected to make a landfall in the next 24 hours, reports said.
