Difficult to block porn sites: Centre to Supreme Court
New Delhi, Aug 29 (IBNS) The central government has told the Supreme Court that it is difficult to block the porn sites because of the sheer presence of around four crore of them and if one is blocked another came popping up.
With the Supreme Court hearing a Public Interest Litigation demanding blocking of porn sites, especially those on child pornography, the centre told the apex court that "there are around four crore websites and when we block one, a new one comes along."
The government said the servers of these sites are located outside India and so it is even more difficult to crack down on them.
The centre has set up a committee to address the issue.
The court sought an update on the committee's work and held that "laws must be faster than technology."
