Hemant Soren's sister-in-law Sita Soren joins BJP ahead of Lok Sabha polls
Sita Soren, a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislator and sister-in-law of former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party here on Tuesday.
Sita Soren joined the party in the presence of its national general secretary, Vinod Tawde, and Jharkhand poll in-charge, Laxmikant Bajpai, at party headquarters.
Speaking after joining the party, she said, "I worked for the party (JMM) for 14 years, but I never got the respect that I deserved from the party.Due to this, I had to take this decision to join the BJP."
"Expressing my confidence in PM Modi, JP Nadda ji, and Amit Shah ji, I joined the BJP today. We have to save Jharkhand and the lives of our tribal brothers. There is a need for change in Jharkhand," Sita Soren said.
Earlier in her resignation letter, she alleged that the party is now in the hands of people whose vision and objectives do not match our values and principles.
She further alleged that "a deep conspiracy was being hatched against her and her family.".
She wrote, "Since the demise of my late husband, Durga Soren, who was a leading warrior of the Jharkhand movement and a great revolutionary, I and my family have been victims of continuous neglect."
Sita Soren joined the BJP ahead of the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the Jharkhand Assembly polls later this year.
