India keen to link Kathmandu with New Delhi and Kolkata via rail network
New Delhi/Kathmandu, Feb 21 (IBNS): India is keen on linking Nepal's capital Kathmandu with New Delhi and Kolkata through a railway network, media reports said on Tuesday.
Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, who was in Nepal to attend the Nepal Infrastructure Summit 2017, said on Monday that India is interested in improving the cross-border communication network to further boost India-Nepal bilateral ties, media reported.
During his trip to Nepal, Prabhu met with Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ramesh Lekhak, Minister of Civil Aviation, Culture and Tourism Jiwan Bahadur Shahi and Energy Minister Janardan Sharma.
He also met key business leaders and industry heads of Nepal.
