India politicising Lakhvi issue : Pakistan
Islamabad, June 26 (IBNS) Pakistan's foreign office has condemned the Indian Government saying it is politicising the Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi issue.
According to media reports, Pakistan has said that it has always complied with the UN guidelines and the work done by pakistan to curb Taliban's influence in the region cannot be matched by any other government.
Pakistan's reaction came after India raised at the international level the issue of the release of Lakhvi, the pai rime accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack case, from a Pakistan jail.
At a meeting of the UN Sanctions Committee at the UN Headquarters in New York, India had demanded action against Pakistan, saying Lakhvi's release was in violation of the UN resolution 1267 that deals with designated entities and individuals.
However, China, one of the UN security council members blocked the proposal on the ground that the evidence New Delhi had provided was insufficient.
Lakhvi was released from jail by a Pakistani court in April which created an uproar in India.
India's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said on Wednsday that New Delhi India had taken up the matter with China “at the highest level”.
