JKLF chief Yasin Malik and Swami Agnivesh arrested in Srinagar
Srinagar, Apr 18 (IBNS) Police on Saturday arrested JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik and politician-social activist Swami Agnivesh after they left for Narbal in Jammu and Kashmir, where a youth was killed in police firing.
Reports said both Malik and Agnivesh were arrested at Budshah Chowk.
Earlier, Malik started his 30 hours long hunger strike at Maisuma to register protest against the killing of two youths at Tral during an army action.
On Saturday morning a youth was killed when Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel opened fire on protesters in Srinagar’s Narbal area, a day after violent clashes between protesters and police and the fresh turmoil over the arrest of separatist leader Masarat Alam.
Reports said that severe clashes took place between some youth and police in the area. The youth were protesting
against the Tral killing and arrest of several separatist leaders by the state government.
Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for a complete shutdown in Kashmir. Geelani is already under house arrest.
Reports said that as the youth resorted to stone pelting, CRPF men opened fire, resulting in the death of a youth.
