Kannada poet Kuvempu's Padma Award stolen from museum in Karnataka
Shivamogga, Nov 25 (IBNS) A burglar on Monday entered a museum, built in the memory of famous Kannada poet Kuvempu and ran away with his Padma Awards, some medals and cash, media reports said.
According to reports by the New Indian Express, police described the burglar as a 50-year old masked man, who must have entered the house between 8 and 9 in the evening.
The burglar also smashed all the 6 CCTV cameras installed for patrolling.
Kuppalli Venkatappa Puttappa, who worked under the alias Kuvempu, is the first person to receive the Jnanpith award for Kannada and is one of the most celebrated Kannada poet of the 20th century.
The police have placed Rs 10,000 bounty on the man.
Earlier, Rabindranath Tagore's Nobel Prize was stolen by burglar from his memorial in Santiniketan, West Bengal, which is yet to be found.
