Kashmir MLA Engineer Rashid detained in Srinagar
Srinagar, Nov 7 (IBNS) Jammu and Kashmir's independent MLA, Engineer Rashid has been detained by the J&K Police as part of the crackdown to prevent the anti-Modi rally by separatists.
Reports said black flags were raised ahead of Modi's rally which resulted in Rashid's arrest.
Modi is expected to announce a mega economic package for the state.The rally will also be addressed by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.
After his public rally at the Sher-i-Kashmir cricket stadium, PM Modi will inaugurate the second phase of the Baglihar hydel project and lay the for the four-laning of the Udhampur-Ramban and Ramban-Banihal section of the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
Unprecedented security arrangements have been made in the city for the PM's visit with a massive number of police and paramilitary personnel being deployed in and around the stadium.
Some separatist groups have called for a rally at the Tourist Reception Centre ground near the stadium to counter the PM's rally. Authorities have sealed all entry and exit routes in Srinagar while various restrictions have been imposed.
