Lalu invites ex-Bihar CM Manjhi to join Janata Parivar
Patna, May 21 (IBNS): Ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has invited former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi to join the proposed Janata Parivar.
Manjhi has formed his own political party called Hindustani Awam Morcha after he was expelled from the Janata Dal United (JD-U).
The move has been seen as a measure to stop Manjhi from joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
However, Manjhi has reportedly rejected the invitation.
According a to CNN-IBN report, Manjhi said that his newly formed party - the Hindustani Awam Morcha - will contest on all 243 seats in the state assembly and he will not join any coalition which has Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in it.
Manjhi was named as Bihar CM on May 17, 2014 after Nitish resigned following the party's electoral drubbing in the last Lok Sabha polls.
But he was expelled after former CM and party leader Nitish Kumar staked claim to form the government in the state when 97 MLAs unanimously elected him as the the leader of the state Assembly at a legislative party meeting.
