Massive traffic jam in Delhi as cab drivers block roads
New Delhi, May 2 (IBNS) Movement of vehicular traffic remained crippled in a large part of Delhi on the first working day of the month after cab drivers blocked traffic in West Delhi's Rajkori area on Monday in protest against the Supreme Court's decision to ban diesel taxis in the national capital, reports said.
The blockade on both the carriageways on Rajkori flyover on Gurgaon -Dahaula Kuan road led to a massive traffic snarl on the Delhi-Gurgaon route as stationary vehicles lined up for more than 1 km and its effect spilled over to other adjoining areas.
The Supreme court on Saturday had refused to give more time to taxi operators to switch to CNG and banned the diesel-based taxis in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) from May 1.
