Mentorship-driven accelerator Techstars appoints Ray Newal as MD to support emerging markets entrepreneurs
New Delhi, Aug 18 (IBNS): Mentorship-driven accelerator Techstars has appointed Ray Newal as MD to support emerging markets entrepreneurs.
The Canada born and raised Newal is no stranger to building a startup in India. In 2009, he left a career in corporate tech in North America to build a mobile video company in India.
His startup Jigsee went on to become one of the top apps on Nokia feature phones and streamed entertainment content to millions of first time Internet users. It was his passion to bring disruptive and democratizing technologies to market that led Newal to found Jigsee, which he exited in 2015.
On his appointment as Managing Director of Techstars India Ray said, “It’s my passion and purpose to find and support these brilliant entrepreneurs by helping them to connect with mentors with the ability to bring step change improvements to their startup journeys.”
Techstars Mentorship-driven Accelerators are not new to Indian entrepreneurs. Just ask the founders of ClassPass, Kinetic, and Stasis Labs. In fact, almost 5 percent of applicants to any of the 40+ Techstars programs around the world hail from India.
The Techstars community now includes more than 10,000 mentors, and through its mentorship-driven accelerators, has invested in nearly 1400 companies from more than 40 countries.
Newal will be hosting a fireside chat in Delhi on August 20, 2018 at CoWrks Gurgaon to meet founders and provide more information regarding the program. Tickets to the event are available here: http://bit.ly/tsdelhi
