Modi envisages his Made in India vision
Tokyo, Sept 2 (IBNS): Buoyed by the huge investment plan laid down by Japan a day ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday voiced his strong support for Japanese investors in India.
He was speaking at a business seminar in Tokyo, where he envisaged his “Made in India” vision in front of the delegates.
While giving a keynote address, Modi tried to attract the investors as he said, "You have hardware...we have software. They cannot exist without each other."
Modi said, "When I was young, if it was said 'Made in Japan' we did not have to think twice. We would buy the product."
Modi said that he possess the same dream for India now.
Wooing the Japanese investors, he said, "When we say 'Make in India', we mean we'll give you an environment where you'll be able to meet your product's global demand through low cost manufacturing, ease of business and skilled manpower."
Making a strong pitch of the new government under his leadership, Modi said there is 'no red tape' in India at present and 'there is only a red carpet'.
He added that his Govt. has removed 55 per cent red tape in the 100 days he has been in power.
Modi has embarked on a 5-day bilateral visit to Japan on Aug 30. Today is his fourth day of visit int he Asian nation.
While discussing bilateral trade and investment with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe on Monday, Modi guaranteed speedy clearances to Japanese investors, promising the creation of a team within his office that will handle proposals from Japanese industry.
In return, Abe promised Modi that over the next five years, he will invest nearly 34 billion dollars in infrastructure and other projects in India including the cleaning up of the Ganga river and the development of smart cities.
