Modi expresses sadness at passing away of former Speaker of Japanese Parliament
New Delhi, June 3 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed sadness at the passing away of Nobutaka Machimura, former Speaker of the Japanese Parliament.
"Saddened at the passing away of Mr. Nobutaka Machimura, former Speaker of the Japanese Parliament. He was a friend of India," Modi said.
"Mr. Machimura served as Chairman of India-Japan Parliamentary Friendship League and worked extensively towards strong India-Japan ties," he said.
"I have fond memories of meeting Mr. Machimura in Tokyo during my last visit. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family," the Prime Minister said.
