Mother gives birth, teacher gives life : PM Narendra Modi
New Delhi, Sept 4 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the roles of mother and teacher are something which remain forever in one's life.
"Mother gives birth to a child. Teacher (guru) gives life (jeevan)," he said while interacting with students and teachers at a programme at Delhi's Manekshaw auditorium on Friday.
The programme, organised to mark the Teacher's Day on Saturday is being attended by about 800 students and 60 teachers.
"There will l hardly be a anyone in the world who will not admit that the role of their mother and teacher in their life..., PM Modi said.
"A teacher's identity is his student...What teachers say to us, we will remember for the rest of our lives...
If a teacher does not invest in his students, he is incomplete," he said.

On stage with Modi was union education minister Smriti Irani, who welcomed the PM and teachers and students gathered.
"Dream, take a vow and make a beginning," She said in a short speech.
During the 90 minute programme, students who have excelled in various fields will ask the Prime Minister questions.
Among them is K Visalini, 15, a student from Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu who has the highest IQ in the world.
This is the second year that the PM is interacting with students on the occasion of Teachers Day, which celebrates the birthday of India's second President and scholar Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
"Interaction with school children is refreshing. The enthusiasm of children & their curiosity is always gladdening," the PM had tweeted.
