Nagpur: Cow vigilantes caught on video thrashing man for allegedly carrying beef, four arrested
Nagpur, Jul 13 (IBNS): Maharashtra Police said they have arrested four people in relation to the latest incident of 'beef' outrage in Nagpur, according to media reports on Thursday.
Cow vigilantism seems to rear its ugly head almost regularly despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying "Killing people in the name of Gau Bhakti is not acceptable. No person in this nation has the right to take the law in his or her own hands in this country."
On Wednesday, a video surfaced showing people beating a man for allegedly carrying beef, media reported.
The incident is said to have taken place in Bharsingi, about 80km from Nagpur.
The video revealed the man, identified as one Salim Shah, was dragged on the road and kicked repteadly.
The police later took the unconscious Shah to hospital, media reported.
The controversial meat has been sent for forensic analysis.
Last week, the media quoted the Maharashtra government as saying that a state forensic laboratory will develop and provide kits to the state police to detect beef, and provide test results within half an hour.
