New Delhi: Cash van driver arrested for making away with 22.5 crore rupees
New Delhi, Nov 27 (IBNS) A cash van driver who ran away with 22.5 crore rupees on Thursday evening in the Govindpuri area of the national capital was nabbed by police hours later, according to media reports.
The driver, identified as Pradeep Shukla, was caught near a warehouse where the police found the abandoned van. Around 11,000 rupees was recovered from him.
Reports further said that the heist took place when the armed security guard got off from the van near the Govindpuri metro station to relieve himself. The guard reportedly asked the driver to park the car nearby. The driver told him since he could not do, he would take an u-turn and come back.
The driver then proceeded as planned but instead of coming back fled the scene with the cash.
After the guard informed the police, they deployed 5 specialized teams and finally nabbed the man.
