PM Modi and other pay homage to 2001 Parliament attack martyrs
New Delhi, Dec 13 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President and Chairman, Rajya Sabha, M. Hamid Ansari and others, on Tuesday, paid their homage to the martyrs of the Parliament attack, at Parliament building, in New Delhi.
On Dec 13, 2001, terrorists, allegedly belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), attacked the Indian Parliament in New Delhi. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the prime minister then.
Although the attack was foiled, six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament Security Service personnel and a gardener were killed. Five terrorists were also killed.
Paying his respect to the martyrs on Tuesday, PM Modi tweeted, "Salutations to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the 2001 Parliament attack. Their bravery will never be forgotten."
Among others who paid their respect on Tuesday were Vice President and Chairman, Rajya Sabha, M. Hamid Ansari; Speaker, Lok Sabha, Sumitra Mahajan; Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and others.
