PM Modi to make aerial survey in cyclone-hit Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam, Oct 14 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make an aerial survey to take stock of areas hit by Cyclone Hudhud on Tuesday, media reports said.
At least 21 people were killed, of which 16 in the Andhra Pradesh port town of Visakhapatnam, owing to the cyclonic storm Hudhud on Sunday.
Visakhapatnam’s airport has been shut down temporarily for repairs as its roof had blown off and the entire premises had been badly damaged due to the cyclonic storm.
Sources said that electricity in Visakhapatnam would begin to restore partly from Tuesday. Electricity in the city has been down since Saturday when the power supply was cut by the authorities as part of the precautionary measure.
As many as five special teams have been formed by the Chandrababu Naidu-led government in Andhra Pradesh to look after health, restoration, relief, power and sanitation work across the Hudhud-ravaged areas.
