
Prime Minister Modi focus on tourism and power in Ladakh
Leh, Aug 12 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday after inaugurating power projects in Leh, said the region of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir should be developed by laying the focus on three Ps- power, paryavaran (environment) and paryatan (tourism).
He said the government is focussing on tourism and the development of Himalayan States and explained how every one benefits with tourism.
He also focused on saffron cultivation in the region.
"We need to bring a saffron revolution and that is giving impetus to Kesar. Special attention should be placed to farmers,"s aid the PM.
He laid the foundation stone for Leh-Kargil-Srinagar Transmission System in Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir besides inaugurating the Nimmo Bazgo hydel project as he promised development of the region.
Modi, who is the first PM to visit Leh after the Kargil war, is dedicating to the nation two hydel power projects in Leh and Kargil in Jammu & Kashmir.
These projects are the 44 MW Chutak hydroelectric project in Kargil district and the 45 MW Nimoo Bazgo project in Leh district.
Modi thus also laid the foundation of the first power transmission line from Leh to Kargil and Kargil to Srinagar. After Leh he will visit Kargil.
"There was a time when PMs never visited this state. I have come here two times already. Your affection draws me here," he said at Leh.
"I know the problems people face and most importantly I know the strength of this land," said Modi.
He said: "I am fortunate to have worked for the Party Organisation in Jammu & Kashmir. I used to visit the state often."
"We have put Leh at the focus of our solar energy initiatives," said Modi.
"Development must be such that it positively transforms the lives of the common people," said Modi.
"We are going to fulfil the dream of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee," he said.
