Rape accused Bihar lawmaker Rajballav Yadav to go back to jail, Supreme Court orders
New Delhi, Nov 24 (IBNS) : The Supreme Court has rejected the bail granted to Bihar lawmaker Rajballabh Yadav, accused of raping a 15-year-old school girl and ordered him to go back to jail, reports said.
Yadav spent six months in prison before being granted bail by the Bihar High court last month.
The state Government, headed by Nitish Kumar, opposed his bail in the apex court.
Yadav is a suspended MLA of Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal, the main partner of Bihar's ruling Grand Alliance.
According to reports, the Supreme Court on Thursday rejected the argument of Yadav's lawyer that the lawmaker would stay away from Bihar during the trial if his bail was confirmed.
The politician is accused of raping the minor at his Biharsharif residence in February this year.
As he walked out of prison in October, she sent a panicked WhatsApp message to journalists, saying she is scared and afraid of her family.
