Reports say China violates LAC again, Indian Army denies

New Delhi, Aug 19 (IBNS): Chinese troops are reported to have intruded inside Indian territory again, media reported on Tuesday, a claim refuted by Indian Army.

According to reports, Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) personnel had entered 25 to 30 km inside Indian Territory in the Burtese area of Ladakh very near to the Depsang valley in Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) sector of Ladakh where the Chinese incursion took place last year leading to a stand-off between two neighbouring nations, according to NDTV channel.

It has been learnt that the Chinese troops pitched up four tents and held up flags which read, "This is Chinese territory, Go back."

NDTV sources say, Indian Army's border patrolling team first saw the Chinese personnel and asked them to go back, to which the PLA troops denied.

Later, the matter was taken up by the Officers of the Indian Army who talked with the PLA counterparts after which the Chinese troops returned.

However, the Army has denied any such incursion took place. NDTV quoted army spokesperson as saying, "No incursion or encroachment of Indian Territory by China has taken place along the India-China border." Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag also denied about any such incident.

The Chinese incursion in the Ladakh area has been a bone of contention for both the countries for quite some time.

In April last year, Chinese troops violated Line of Actual Control (LAC) and entered the Indian territory in the DBO sector in eastern Ladakh. They pitched up tents.

On the very same day, Chinese helicopters had allegedly violated the Indian air space and flew over Depsang in DBO. That incursion led to a diplomatic tension between two nuclear-powered nations.

The stand-off was eased after 3 weeks after many rounds of flag meeting between the 2 armies only to return the very next month.

In July last year, the Chinese troops intruded once again into Indian territory in Ladakh and vandalized bunkers and border surveillance equipment by cutting wires of cameras installed at the border post, located in the Chumar sector in Ladakh.
