Salman Khan arms case verdict in Jodhpur court deferred
Jodhpur, Feb 25 (IBNS): A court in Jodhpur on Wednesday adjourned till March 3 its verdict on whether Bollywood actor Salman Khan was guilty or not of illegal arms possession in the case of endangered black buck and chinkara hunting about 16 years ago during a film shoot in Rajasthan.
The court was to give its verdict on whether Khan had used illegal arms to poach the endangered deer. But Salman Khan had sought exemption from court appearance and the judge adjourned the case till March 3.
The punishment for the crime if proved under Arms Act could be between 3 and 7 years.
The superstar, on whom Rs 200 crore is riding in Bollywood according to reports, was accused of hunting a black buck in Rajasthan while he and other actors were shooting for the film "Hum Saath Saath Hain".
Besides Salman Khan, other actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam were also facing charges earlier.
Salman twice spent time in the Jodhpur jail in 2006 and 2007 in the cases.
On 24 July 2012, Rajasthan High Court had finalised charges against Salman Khan and his other film colleagues in the endangered black buck killing case, paving way for start of the trial.
Besides Salman Khan, other actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam were also facing charges earlier.
