Srinjoy Bose quits Trinamool Congress
Kolkata, Feb 5 (IBNS) A day after a city court on Wednesday granted conditional bail to Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Srinjoy Bose, he stepped own from the TMC on Thursday.
After two-and-a-half months in jail since his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation ( CBI) in connection with the Saradha scam, Bose was released on a day ago on bail.
Reports said he cited family pressure to quit the party while thanking Mamata Banerjee for making him an MP.
TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee earlier alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to split her party by putting enormous pressure on the leaders through CBI.
The court earlier directed Bose not to leave the country without its permission and cooperate with CBI in connection with the probe.
Bose is the editor of Bengali daily Sambad Pratidin. He also has interest in cargo handling. He was arrested on November 20,2014.
Bose is the first senior Trinamool Congress leader to be granted bail in the Saradha scam. Trinamool Congress leader and state Transport Minister Madan Mitra, party's suspended member and Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh and former DG of police Rajat Majumder, who later turned into a Trinamool functionary are also under arrest in connection with the multi-crore scam.
