The section includes both verbal and non-verbal questions and does not cover technical aspects. Most questions require quick calculations and the topics include the following:
- Number analogy
 - Cubes and dices
 - Coding decoding
 - Complete the series
 - Syllogism
 - Distance and direction sense

While attempting questions from this section candidates will get an edge as more number of questions can be attempted in less time, a boon for time management. You will get enough time to focus on other portions of the exam. To cover all the topics of this section you need to devise a nicely planned strategy.
Pick your Books Carefully
Books are a valuable asset while preparing for any exam. Therefore, make sure that you study from books that have good content and mock test papers. If you are not able to understand a topic, then refer it from some other book. Also, do not move on to another book right after completing one. First, test your knowledge and try solving some mock test papers or previous year question papers. Some popular and highly beneficial books you can refer to include:
- Analytical Reasoning by M K Pandey
 - Kiran's SSC Reasoning chapterwise
 - Reasoning by RS Aggarwal
 - A New Approach to Reasoning Verbal & Non-Verbal by Arihant

Plan your Goals Well
It is important to have a clear picture of whatever you do or study at the time of preparation. Concepts and logic should be well understood as it makes their implementation easy. In this section, you have to solve 100 questions in 60 minutes but as per the strategy, you must be able to complete this section within 15-20 minutes so that you can utilize this time to work on other sections.
To score high you need to get almost 90-100% accuracy in some questions. Therefore, you must first attempt the questions you are good at. Focus on your strong points and enhance them by solving mock test papers and previous year question papers.
Push your Limits
It is a key feature of all successful people. You should never take yourself for granted and keep working hard to achieve your goals. If today you manage to do 10 questions in 10 minutes then tomorrow set a target of doing 12-14 questions in 10 minutes and increase the number of questions with time. Once you are done with the preparations, it is very important to go through the entire syllabus(a quick revision) and solve mock test papers to enhance your knowledge and speed. Take weekly tests and frame questions for yourself. Set small goals and accomplish them within a limited time frame.
Review and Revise
These are two importantpoints to be taken care of if you have covered the entire syllabus and are good to go for the exam. Don’t get over-confident and keep reviewing the topics and have a weekly revision of what you have done so far. With this method, you will develop good retention power and a strong memory.
A free Tip!
For better understanding and retention you can use Pomorodo Technique, which includes studying in fragments by taking small breaks in between. Study for 25 minutes and take a small break of 3-5 minutes in between. By this method, your mind will be refreshed and you will also develop better retention power.
