Tamil Nadu: Confusion over who will be CM continues
Chennai, Feb 13, (IBNS): Political turmoil between the two factions of AIADMK in Tamil Nadu entered into ninth day on Monday with both sides trying to prove their supremacy through supporter numbers, according to media reports.
Meanwhile, Kancheepuram police, in their reply to Madras High Court, said that none of the legislators have complained that they are forcefully held, media reported.
The Supreme Court is likely to deliver its judgement on the disproportionate assets case against the late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa and current CM-aspirant Sasikala this week. If convicted, Sasikala will not be able to contest the elections for six years.
"Don't underestimate the powers of a common woman," said Sasikala addressing the AIADMK supporters.
Sasikala, who had a trouble-free appointment as the party head, was initially chosen by AIADMK eary in February to be the state's chief minister, taking over from acting Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.
But with Panneerselvam revolting against Sasikala and Governor C Vidyasagar Rao indicating that he would rather wait for the court verdict, the decision who will be the chief minister of Tamil Nadu remains a matter of conjecture, media reported.
