Tamil Nadu : DMK on statewide hunger strike to protest against Palaniswamy's trust vote

Chennai, Feb 22 (IBNS) : The Opposition DMK in Tamil Nadu is observing a one-day hunger strike throughout the state on Wednesday to protest the "violation of Assembly rules" in adopting the confidence motion moved by Chief Ministers Edappadi Palaniswamy, reports said.
The hunger strike comes a day after the DMK moved a no-trust vote against Speaker P Dhanapal in a first in the history of Tamil Nadu politics.
DMK Working President MK Stalin allegced that the trust motion was adopted in contravention of the rules and it amounted to "murder of democracy."
Stalin, who is also Leader of the Opposition, is leading the hunger strike on the Anna Nagar Uzhavar Sandhai ground in Trichy, The Times of India reported.
The report said DMK MLAs and other leaders led fast in various places in Chennai.
