Telangana advocates refuse to end strike
Hyderabad, Jul 5 (IBNS): Despite Chief Justice of India TS Thakur asking advocates from Telangana to withdraw their agitation, the state remains locked in a bitter tussle with Andhra Pradesh over division of judiciary posts and the high court, according to media reports.
Both states fear that regional affiliation among jurists might lead to biased verdicts, media reported on Tuesday.
Two of the key demands from Telangana is the withdrawal of provisional list of judges of AP nativity who were allotted to subordinate courts in Telangana and initiating steps to bifurcate Hyderabad High Court, reported NDTV
Hyderabad will remain a shared capital between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana until 2024. Hyderabad High Court remains the common court for both states, which were bifurcated in 2014.
Advocates in Telangana have been on strike for almost a month now.
Telangana advocates are also demanding the revocation of suspension of 11 judicial officers who were suspended on disciplinary grounds for participating in the agitation.
