
West Bengal State Akademi, RBU organises Basant Utsav
Kolkata, Mar 30 (IBNS): The West Bengal State Akademi of Dance Drama Music and Visual Arts, Rabindra Bharati University, in association with All India Radio, Kolkata and Doordarshan Kendra, Kolkata, organised the Basant Utsav a classical music concert featuring artistes and well-known accompanists at the Jorasanko Thakurbari in Kolkata on March 17 and 18.
On the first day artistes who presented recitals were Pandit M. Venkatesh Kumar (vocal), Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (mohanveena), and Hassan Haider Khan (shehnai), while the well-known accompanying artistes were Pandit Kumar Bose (tabla), Samar Saha (tabla), Debasish Sarkar (tabla), Rupashree Bhattacharya (harmonium), Zakir Hussain (shehnai), Md. Zahid Ali (sur shehnai), Bakar Abbas Khan (surpeti), and Nazim Hussain (dhukkad).
On the second day of the concert artistes who presented recitals were Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumder (sarod), Vidushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande (vocal), and Vidwan Shashank Subramaniam (flute – Karnatic), while the well-known accompanying artistes were Yogesh Samsi (tabla), Vidwan Patri Satish Kumar (mridangam), Pandit Abhijit Banerjee (tabla), Akkarai Subhalakshmi (violin), Yati Sunil Bhagwat (tabla), and Hiranmoy Mitra (harmonium).
