Cairo, Feb 2 (IBNS): Al Jazeera journalist Peter Greste was released from Egypt and left for his native Australia after serving 400 days in a Cairo prison, reports said.

He was sent behind the bards on charges that included aiding a terrorist group.

Greste’s release came in the wake of one of the bloodiest attacks in Egypt in which over 30 security forces were killed on Thursday night in Sinai.

According to sources, there was no immediate word on the fate of two other Al Jazeera journalists - Canadian-Egyptian Mohamed Fahmy and Egyptian national Baher Mohamed - who were also booked in the case that triggered a global attention.

The trio was sentenced to seven to 10 years on charges including spreading lies to help a “terrorist organization”.
