Amid war of words, Pakistan violates ceasefire
Srinagar, June 12 (IBNS): Amid war of words between Indian and Pakistani leadership over Army's recent operation in Myanmar, Pakistan has violated the ceasefire again along the Line of Control (LoC) in Pargwal sector of Jammu and Kashmir late on Thursday, targeting several BSF border outposts.
According to reports, unprovoked firing was reported as the troops fired intermittently using small arms and automatic weapons.
The latest ceasefire violation is the second time in two days.
India also responded to the unprovoked firing by the Pakistani side.
This comes as Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said that Indian Army's operation in Myanmar to kill Northeast militants, responsible for Manipur ambush, "shows a change in mindset."
Without naming Pakistan directly, Parrikar had said, "Those people who fear India's new posture are reacting."
Pakistan had warned India on Wednesday that it won't tolerate any such "misadventure" inside its territory.
"Pakistan is not Myanmar, and India should not think of repeating such an exercise inside Pakistani territory," Pakistan interior minister Nisar Ali Khan told mediapersons on Wednesday.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also termed statements by Indian leaders as "irresponsible and imprudent."
Sharif vowed to protect his country's "vital interests at all costs".
Limiting to not just this, Pakistan Parliament on Thursday passed a resolution saying its armed forces are fully capable of giving a befitting response to any incursion.
