Assembly Results: Mamata's TMC leading in Bengal, BJP ahead in Assam

Kolkata/Chennai, May 19 (IBNS): Counting of votes is currently underway for the Assembly seats in four states-West Bengal, Tamil Nadu ,Kerala, Assam- and the Union Territory of Puducherry with early trends showing that Mamata Banerjee and her TMC is leading in Bengal and the LDF ahead in Kerala while the BJP is overtaking the ruling Congress in Assam.

In Assam with 126 assembly seats, the BJP is currently leading in 42 seats while the ruling Congress is ahead in 16. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who is contesting from Titabar seat, is currently leading.

In Kerala with 140 seats, the LDF (Left Democratic Front) is ahead in 86 seats while the ruling Oommen Chandy led UDF is leading in 50 seats.

As per early trends, Tamil Nadu is witnessing a tough battle where AIADMK is leading in 81 seats while DMK is leading in 67.

In Union Territory Puducherry, Congress is leading in 12 seats while the NRC is ahead in  5.

The ruling  TMC is ahead in 138 seats in West Bengal of the total 294 as per the early trends while the alliance of Left and Congress is ahead in 68 seats as counting is underway.

The BJP is ahead in 3.

In Kolkata's six seats, BJP's Rahul Sinha is ahead in one seat while in five, TMC is ahead. In Kolkata's Jadavpur, the Left Front-INC alliance candidate Sujan Chakraborty of CPI-M is ahead.
