China's approach to some issues holds us back : Modi
Beijing, May 15 (IBNS) On a day when India and China signed a record 24 agreements worth 10 billion dollars, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that China should reconsider its approach to some issues, including the LAC that hinder the two countries from utilising full potential of the partnership.
"I stressed on the need for China to re-consider its approach to some issues that hold us back from realising full potential of our partnership. We both reiterated our strong commitment to make all efforts to maintain peace and tranquility in the border region. We should be sensitive to each others' interest," he said at a joint press conference with China's Premier Li Keqiang .
Modi, who sought "tangible progress" on issues relating to visa policy and trans-border rivers said ,"The re-emergence of India and China and their relationship will have a profound impact on the two countries and the course of this century. Our relationship has been complex in recent decades. I believe that my discussions with President Xi and Premier Li have advanced our relationship in that direction."
"We have set a high level of ambition for our economic partnership. We see enormous bilateral opportunities and many similar challenges, like urbanization," he said.
Modi said both India and China have accepted that terrorism is a shared threat. "Instability in West Asia matters to both of us. Peace and progress in Afghanistan benefits us both. I am confident that our international partnership will deepen," he said.
China's Premier Li Keqiang said that both countries need to strengthen mutual political trust so that together they can build a fairer and more reasonable international order.
