Despite bail, Tejpal misses mother's cremation
Panaji, May 20 (IBNS): Former Tehelka Editor-in-Chief and sexual assault accused Tarun Tejpal could not attend his mother's cremation despite getting an interim bail, reports said on Tuesday.
According to reports, Tejpal's release from jail was delayed due to completion of formalities.
The Supreme Court on Monday granted three weeks' interim bail to Tejpal to attend the cremation of his mother ShakuntalaTejpal who died of brain tumour in Goa on Sunday.
Tejpal, who was arrested by the Goa Police on Nov 30, 2013, has been charged with sexual harassment and other sections of the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013.
Tejpal allegedly sexually assaulted a woman journalist of his organization in an elevator of Grand Hyatt Goa during the Think festival of Tehelka where ironically the participants were debating on issues like rape.
The action of Tejpal is considered as rape under the new definition of the anti-rape law in India.
