Indian nurses freed in Iraq: Media reports
New Delhi, July 4 (IBNS): The International Red Cross has confirmed that 46 Indian nurses caught in the fight between Iraqi forces and the ISIS militants have been freed, according to a report in CNN IBN on Friday.
The channel also quoted senior journalist in Iraq Girish Menon to confirm the news.
The nurses, the reports said, had called up their families in Kerala and said they will be dropped at Erbil Airport. A special plane will bring them back to India.
India on Thursday said all the 46 Indian nurses, who are stranded in war-torn Iraq's Tirkit city, have been moved to another location 'for safety'.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said all the nurses are 'safe and unharmed'.
"46 nurses are safe but they have been moved to another location for safety," Akbaruddin said while addressing the press conference here.
He said the Indian officials keeping in touch with the nurses.
