A 27-year-old Hyderabadi woman, who was pursuing higher education in London, has been murdered in  Neeld Crescent, Wembley, media reports said.

She was identified as Kontham Tejaswini Reddy.

According to reports, she was a student at the University of Nottingham.

She had gone to the UK to pursue a Master’s last March, reports The Indian Express.

The incident took place at Reddy’s residence at around 10 am British Summer Time (BST) on Tuesday. Both Reddy and her friend Akhila, 28, suffered stab injuries. While Reddy died on the spot, her friend is out of danger, the police were quoted as saying by the newspaper.

London’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement that three people have been arrested in connection with the incident so far.

"A 23-year-old man, who officers previously named publicly, was located in Harrow at around 18:00hrs on Tuesday, 13 June," read the statement.

"He was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody at a north London police station," the statement further said.

Police are still conducting an investigation into the matter.

"Two people, a 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. The man remains in custody. The woman has been released without further action," read the statement.

Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley, from the Met's Specialist Crime Command, said: "This has been a fast-moving investigation and I would like to thank the public for sharing our appeal for information about this man. He is now in custody."
