Jayalalithaa calls legislators' meeting amid speculations
Chennai, May 15 (IBNS) After being absolved by the Karnataka High Court of corruption charges, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa has called a meeting of her party legislators next Friday amid reports that she is ready to return as Tamil Nadu chief minister.
The party announced on Friday that Jayalalithaa will meet all legislators on May 22 . She is likely to be elected leader of the legislature party.
The Karnataka High Court cancelled Jayalalithaa's conviction by a trial court and four-year jail sentence saying that she had been incorrectly charged and unaccounted wealth was about 8 per cent of her income, which was "within the permissible limit of 10 per cent".
Tamil Nadu witnessed delirious celebrations by her supporters following the court verdict.
O Panneerselvam, who succeeded Jayalalithaa as chief minister following her conviction in September last year, is believed to be prepared to quit in her favour.
