Karan Singha replaces S George as Chennai top cop in view of RK Nagar bypoll
Chennai, Mar 25 (IBNS): The Election Commission on Saturday ordered the transfer of Chennai Police Commissioner S George and appointed Karan Singha in his place, according to media reports.
The change was made in view of the RK Nagar Assembly Constituency bypoll of Tamil Nadu, scheduled for April 12, media reports said.
Prior to his appointment as Chennai top cop, Karan Singha was Additional Director General of Police, Crime Branch, CID.
The RK Nagar seat fell vacant following the death of J Jayalalithaa, AIADMK head and chief minister.
