Bengaluru, June 22 (IBNS) : The Karnataka Assembly has passed a resolution to impose a years jail term on two journalists for writing 'defamator ' articles against legislators, media reports said.
The unanimous decision was taken on the recommendation of the House Privileges Committee that conducted an inquiry following complaints from BJP MLA from Yelahanka, S R Vishwanath, and Congress ' BM Nagaraj about being targeted by two tabloids.
The committee was of the view that the series of articles put up by the journalists were defamatory and violative of legislators' privileges.
The two journalists — Ravi Belagere of ‘Hi Bangalore’ and Anil Raj who ran a tabloid called Yelahanka Voice — have also been asked to pay a fine of Rs10,000.
