Kolkata gets first app for bus pool
Kolkata, Dec 23 (IBNS) With apps now providing solutions to numerous problems faced by people regularly, including getting a taxi, helping people further, Kolkata has not got its first app dedicated to provide bus pool service here.
HopprApp.in aims to disrupt the congested public transit space by aggregating smart transport solutions with the aid of mobile technology.
At Hoppr, they are trying to solve the problems faced by 4.5 million daily commuters in Kolkata and 70 million daily commuters nation-wide, an official statement said.
The problems that HopprApp is dealing with includes overcrowded buses, inefficient ticketing system and absence of real-time tracking data.
"HopprApp.in serves as a bus pooling service that utilizes the economies of mass transit. Intra city bus network smart technologies demand requirement of bus service bus pooling. During the incubation process, Hoppr saw itself evolve from a raw idea to a well-assessed market ready plan. With a clear vision - to commute economically and efficiently, HopprApp is Kolkata’s First technology company that has received the funding from Kolkata and Mumbai based investors," the statement said.
Born out of the first edition of the Startup Weekend held at IIM Calcutta, Hoppr operates through an app to aggregate smart transport solutions and aims to disrupt the congested public transit space. Founded in August 2015, Hoppr received seed funding from Calcutta entrepreneurs, marking Hoppr as one of the most promising tech startups out of Kolkata.

Hoppr is exploring the market for schools, corporates and vacations as well and shall launch that service as soon as they have a larger fleet of vehicles, the company said in a statement.
Harshit Gohil, Founder, Hopprapp.in said: "Hoppr is the second company that came out of personal experiences and the thought that if cabs can be aggregated and cars can be pooled for ride-sharing then why not the larger vehicles like buses, that utilise the economies of mass transit. In order to build smarter and more sustainable cities, smart transport is of prime importance. Our official website went live onSeptember 18 and the Hoppr App was launched on September 25."
Gohil said: "We continued our trial runs till October 10. After 2 months of incredible hard work, we’re really excited to launch our services in the City of Joy - Kolkata on November 30.
